Stepping Confidently into the New Year!
Happy New Year everyone, we are already in our second week...Yowser! Just believe that YOU GOT THIS!
I hope this New Year brings you all the good that life has to offer. You might wonder how you can achieve the “good” in your life when things might be overwhelming and situations out of your control threaten failure. This is a common problem; how do you get the “good” out of life, how do you move toward accomplishing goals when life seems to want to trip you up? While we all have to face trials and hardships we can still seize the good in life!
The first thing you need to do is sit down and make a list of all the things you want to accomplish this year.
When you have your list it might look a little overwhelming, daunting even, when looked at as a whole. The next step is to organize your list of goals by importance; the goals you most want to accomplish first down to the less important ones toward the bottom.
Still overwhelming? Don’t worry, the next step will help.
Next, take your goals for 2017 and give each goal a page. In that blank space write out how you are going to accomplish that particular goal, step by step. Break each step down into easy-to-complete baby steps. It doesn’t matter how many baby steps you have listed for each goal, each step progresses toward completing your ultimate goal.
For example; say your number one goal for 2017 is losing weight. The first step is to determine how much weight you want to lose. When you have established an amount start setting little goals, baby steps, to how you can accomplish this. One baby step might be adding fruits and vegetables to every meal. The next step might be going for a walk every day. These steps, though small, when added together equal a force for good and positive change in your life. As you set and accomplish these baby steps, start adding bigger baby steps to your goal. Being able to make little accomplishments will fill you with a sense of satisfaction and will keep you working toward your ultimate goal without feeling overwhelmed.
As with any goal, we get off track at times. Don’t worry if things get a little askew. Take a deep breath, look at your goals and steps, adjust if needed and get back out there to conquer!
Baby steps can be used for any type of goal setting from paying off debt to buying a house. You just need to start where you are and take your first step toward success!
Now go out and take those baby steps! You Got This!
